The mechanism operates completely submerged in oil, eliminating maintenance needs. Upon powering the actuator terminals, relief valves close, allowing a motor-driven pump to exert hydraulic pressure on a spring-loaded piston until a limit switch is triggered, cutting power to the pump motor and maintaining the stem in an extended position. The relief valves remain closed during this time, and the motor may intermittently restart to ensure consistent pressure against the piston until the actuator is deactivated, which releases the relief valves and retracts the piston.
